About Mark
Mark Fonseka is a highly experienced optometrist who works closely with David Shanahan. Mark has special interests in glaucoma, corneal refractive treatment and dry eye treatments.
Mark has worked in a variety of private and hospital optometry/ophthalmology settings both here in Australia and in the UK including the Corneo-Plastic Unit, Queen Victoria Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. Mark has experience supervising final year optometry students at his alma mater, and more recently with Melbourne University final year optometry students in the eye camp in rural Sri Lanka.
Mark graduated with honours from the optometry school at City, University of London and furthered his expertise by achieving a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Optometry from the College of Optometry, London and a Post Graduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics from the Australian College of Optometry (ACO), Melbourne. Always keen to hone his clinical skills, Mark recently completed the Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Glaucoma (ACO) to further enhance his glaucoma work.
Mark holds degrees in Physics and enjoys mathematical and logic puzzles, he enjoys an early morning walk along the Swan River foreshore and does not neglect his fitness. Mark is a keen international traveller, and he is a family man who loves family get togethers.
