If you’re one of the many Western Australians with an optical health fund, scheduling an eye examination with one our highly accomplished and experienced Optometrists will help you get the most out of your vision.

When you take out health insurance here in Australia, you have an annual limit on the amount you can claim back on extras such as optical. Annual limits can vary between health funds and with different levels of coverage.

For most health funds, extras benefits typically expire on 31 December 2022, and reset on 1 January 2023. This means that any 2022 benefits that are not used will typically not carry over to the following year, and if you do not use them now, they will, unfortunately, likely be permanently lost.

We accept Bupa, Medibank, HCF, nib, HBF and all other Australian health insurance funds. Optical extras can help to pay for prescription glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses.

Do I Need To Contact My Health Insurance Before Booking An Appointment?

If you are making an extras claim, we will process it automatically at the point of sale. Most health insurance funds also have an iPhone or Android app where you can submit a claim by taking a photo of your receipt.

Please don’t hesitate to contact our staff if you have any questions about the above or if you would like to book an appointment at David Shanahan Optometrists in Fremantle.
