About Masunaga Kenzo
MASUNAGA Kenzo is a luxury eyewear collaboration that fuses over 100 years of Japanese craftsmanship with the bold, artistic vision of legendary designer Kenzo Takada.
The line represents a unique collaboration between Japanese eyewear masters Masunaga and iconic designer Kenzo Takada. It blends Masunaga’s century-old craftsmanship with Takada’s bold design vision to create refined, luxury eyewear. The collaboration is often labelled as MASUNAGA x Kenzo Takada or Masunaga K3.
K3 is a luxury home and lifestyle brand founded by Kenzo Takada and launched in 2020 at Maison & Objet in Paris. A vibrant blend of Eastern and Western design, it includes a range of products, including luxurious glasses. The MASUNAGA x Kenzo Takada eyewear collaboration continues under the K3 name with an amazing team retaining Takada’s vision, with new collections released from Spring 2022.
Each frame blends vintage and contemporary elements, often featuring 1920s-inspired engravings, Masunaga’s GMS star, and Kenzo Takada’s Campanule flower emblem. These subtle details offer character without overpowering the design.
Frames are crafted from premium materials like lightweight titanium and hand-polished acetate. Masunaga is one of the only eyewear manufacturers in Japan to handle every step in-house, over 200 steps from raw material to finished frame, ensuring exceptional quality.
This collection leans into a more fashion-forward aesthetic, with bold shapes, multi-layered fronts, and unexpected colour combinations. You’ll find ornate touches on the bridge and temples, often echoing the detail of fine jewellery with refined patterns, and playful colour use that brings a distinct energy to the designs.
More than just eyewear, Masunaga Kenzo frames are wearable art, quietly luxurious and designed to reveal their uniqueness in the finer details.
