About KameManNen
“When you wear glasses, you can see clearer. When you see clearer, your thoughts become refined. Glasses are tools that can expand the function of human beings.” – KameManNen
Made in Sabae City, of the Fukui prefecture in Japan, where eyewear making began over a century ago. This Japanese City is widely renowned for producing the highest quality eyewear in the world, despite having a population of just 70,000.
Said to be the oldest eyewear brand in Japan, KameManNen was established in 1917, and originally was a plating factory. After World War II, the plating factory was developed into an eyewear factory, and KameManNen was born.
The founder of KameManNen, Kikujiro Kimura, aspires to produce durable products that will be loved for a long time. To fulfil this aspiration and value for quality, all KameManNen eyewear products undergo a series of exceptionally time-consuming manufacturing processes. These processes use metal and ion plating, which are very labour-intensive production processes. However, they provide a high-quality, durable finish that lives up to Kamemannen’s values—pursuing the highest quality possible without compromising.
Simple design translates into lean beautifulness, a product that has unity. All aspects of the design are determined carefully and constructed mathematically, with sub-millimetre accuracy – from the clearance between components to the thickness of the metal plating. KameManNen’s designs have won the hearts of people all over the world, through an aesthetic that remains true to itself despite modern-day fast-paced fashion trends. KameManNen’s designs were nominated for the prestigious SILMO d’Or Awards in 2013, an Academy Award in the eyewear world.
